Raatihuoneenkatu 4 – Postmaster’s House and Pottery Workshop
The house was built in 1879 by postmaster Selim Sanfrid Sandman. In 1905, Uno Axel Fleege was appointed by the Russian Imperial Senate as the city doctor of Kaskinen and lived here with his family. His medical practice was in the second floor of the house until his death in 1922.
Over the years, the house has been home to many families. The current owner moved in in 1988 and has lived here for 37 years – longer than anyone else. In the same year, the pottery workshop Savipaja was established in an old outbuilding in the yard, which has been run together with her husband since 1999. This has also allowed more time for developing the garden.
The site is open during the official opening hours of the fair
Special programme: The owners will be present to tell visitors about the building, its history, and the Savipaja pottery workshop.
